FAQ's

Q. Will you still be GFT President?
A. Yes.

Q. Are their other Union Presidents that serve in their legislature?
A. Yes. There are at least 8 others in the AFT.

Q. Do other Guam Senators have other jobs?
A. Almost every Senator has an interest in For Profit companies.

Q. Do you or your wife have private business interests?
A. No.

Q. Is there a conflict of interest between the union and the legislature?
A. No. When union members win, all of Guam’s families win.

Q. What is the mission of a Senator?
A. The same as GFT’s. Improve the quality of life for our members’ (constituents’) and their families’.

Q. How will you be able to do two full time jobs?
A. With great staff and lot’s of hard work!

Q. Will you be our friend in October and forget us in January?
A. Of course not. I have a ten year track record of winning for Guam’s working families and this new position will just give us new ways to win.

Q. Why are you running?
A. Because we need too. This isn’t my campaign, it’s our campaign and if we want to win for our families we need to do it in the legislature as well as by negotiating contracts.

Q. If you pass good enough laws will we still need a union?
A. Of course! Workers always need to have meaningful, negotiated input at the workplace. It is Only when we have democracy at work do we have the meaningful checks and balances of a Collective Bargaining Agreement that protect our jobs, quality of life and the quality of Public Services that we provide.
